I was looking for a management tool for all my lyrics and chord sheet to get rid of all the bloody paper work, always loosing the overview of what I can perform , what needs work etc.
I finally found Set List Maker and my dream came true. It has so many features that it had a little learning curve but then everything was working very well.
I don’t carry any papers to gigs now and I share the screen with my band mate just deciding intuitively what Song is next ( and he has to play with me ;-)
Creating a setlist is now a matter of a few minute, changing is seconds, having up to date lead sheet with the band mates is now a piece of cake.
I entered my approx. 300 songs on a Sunday afternoon, on an Ipad 2 having a backup on an Ipad Mini and throw away all my paper work.
On stage I have a small Ipad holder, very near to me (eyes getting worse;-) but it is still much smaller than a big Sheet holder (what is the English name for these things?). There are now light probe as by the nature of iPads self illumination ;-)
I share screen from an Ipad 2 to an Ipad 4, which needs a little time delay of about 4-6 seconds., But we are now used to it. And it is still not comparable with handling paper. The other way round from Ipad 4 to Ipad 2 is a bit faster, but due to the lpad2 has lower screen resolution than Ipad4, it is a bit „greasy" but still readable .
Anyone writing bad reviews have not really taking the time to understand Set List Maker. It is a feature rich tool which needs to be understand but you can full customize it to your needs.
One small hint: My band mate just told me he has deleted his whole song database, pressing the „Zurücksetzen“ (Geman) button. I don’t know how ist is named in English version, it is translatet to "revers“ Maybe it should get a stronger name like „Lösche DB“ -> Delete DB . Anyway he and me are still in heaven with SLM ;-)
Also, there is a fantastic support and great user forum behind SLM. Keep up the good work especially as it is really worth the money.
